Grand Opening of the Gran Pacifica and NicaBella Show Home
Wonderful music, fabulous food and wine, accompanied by an amazing sunset, provided a memorable night on April 5, 2008 when Gran Pacifica unveiled its first decorated Show Home, the result of a collaboration with NicaBella Interior Design. The three partners of NicaBella, Carolyn Keeling, Sam Elam, and Ursula Webster, spent weeks exploring the byways, river beds and dirt paths of Nicaragua's quaint villages to put together an amazing Show Home which celebrates Nicaraguan artisans of many venues. From pottery, basket weaving, furniture making, paintings, ceramics, iron work, and other examples of Nicaraguan crafts, the home was decorated almost exclusively with items crafted by Nicaraguan hands.
This lovely Show Home is owned by Maritza and Javier Morales, who were among the many attendees joining the festivities at the completed showroom at its grand opening. Over 100 people toured the home and savored the wonderful food provided by Maritza Morales' new restaurant in Managua, the Instituto Culinario Santa Lucia.
Of particular interest was the debut of a local Nicaraguan painter, Brenda Sampson, whose family owns and operates three bakeries called "Sampson's" in Managua. Many of you have enjoyed the variety of pastries offered by Sampson's, but few customers know of the amazing artwork being quietly painted in the back office. NicaBella was thrilled to discover Brenda's hidden talent and present her artwork to the public for the first time in our Show Home. Discovering artisans of such caliber embodies what NicaBella and Gran Pacifica endeavor to do in Nicaragua by encouraging and supporting the many cultural expressions of talented Nicaraguans.
